DTC B0502 RH DRL Relay Circuit
Circuit Description
The BCM provides control for the RH DRL relay circuit. The BCM grounds the RH DRL relay control circuit in order to energize the RH DRL relay and turn ON the RF turn signal. Thisallows the RF turn signal to be used for DRL, UTD, and approach lighting functions. The BCM monitors the voltage level on the RH DRL relay control circuit. When the BCM commands the relay ON, the voltage level on the RH DRL relay control circuit should be low. When the relay is OFF, the voltage on the RH DRL relay control circuit should be high. If the BCM detects a voltage level other then expected, a malfunction is present and the DTC will set.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
- The BCM detects a low voltage level (an open or a short to ground) in the RH DRL relay control circuit.
- The BCM can only test for this condition with the RH DRL relay de-energized
- This condition must be present for 2 seconds
DTC B0507 LH DRL Relay Circuit
Circuit Description
The BCM provides control for the LH DRL relay circuit. The BCM grounds the LH DRL relay control circuit in order to energize the LH DRL relay and turn ON the LF turn signal. Thisallows the LF turn signal to be used for DRL, UTD, and approach lighting functions. The BCM monitors the voltage level on the LH DRL relay control circuit. When the BCM commands the relay ON, the voltage level on the LH DRL relay control circuit should be low. When the relay is OFF, the voltage on the LH DRL relay control circuit should be high. If the BCM detects a voltage level other then expected, a malfunction is present and the DTC will set.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
- The BCM detects a low voltage level (an open or a short to ground) in the LH DRL relay control circuit.
- The BCM can only test for this condition with the LH DRL relay de-energized
- This condition must be present for 2 seconds
DTC B0521 Tachometer Signal Circuit Malfunction
Circuit Description
The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives engine RPM information from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Engine RPM input information is obtained from the PCM on a dedicated engine speed input from the IPC. The IPC also receives engine RPM data on the serial data line. The PCM is responsible for processing and sending engine RPM data to the IPC. The IPC will only display the engine RPM data that was sent by the PCM. The IPC monitors the engine RPM output information sent from the PCM for an out of range condition.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
- The IPC detects engine RPM information sent from the PCM over 7400 RPM.
- Condition must be present for > 1 second.
DTC U1000 Class 2 Communication Malfunction
Condition for Setting the DTC
At least on critical operating parameter has not been associated with an identification number within about five seconds after beginning serial data communication.
