I'm looking at buying a C3 to drive as a summer car. Just for fun. Would probably fix minor issues over the winter and drive next spring. I have a garage and some tools but no lift. Would daily it when the weather is good.
I'm not spending a ton. Here's where I've got it down to:
'80, silver, with a '81 engine with some work done to it. Original trans with a shift kit. Headers and side pipes. Some electrical issues (driver window, speedo is off, tach doesn't work). Paint and exterior is a B+, minor chipping etc. Interior is good except the seats are cracked. All carpet is new. Radio is modern. Would need new seats and the other electrical stuff done over the winter.
'79, black. All original mechanically. Paint is again a B+ with swirls on the hood. One electrical issue - battery keeps draining if you leave it parked for a few days. Interior is again original but worn.
'77, red. Not original engine.... LS swap with a turbo, headers to straight pipes. Interior needs carpet (it's beat) and the door panels are looking warn. Red exterior. Some asshole keyed it but other than that it looks good. Thinking I would do door panels and carpet and maybe hang some flowmasters on those straight pipes so my teeth don't chatter if I get into it.
All three have the original Turbo 350 trans. Long term whichever one I buy I would pay to swap that out for something with overdrive.
Ok... Assume they are all the same reasonable price. What do I do?
