HELLO... Moving to Germany - Bluewasp - 05.12.2002

HI, Looks like I'll be moving to Germany sometime around Jan. 03... 5 to 6 weeks..
Anyways I have a 1996 Grand Sport and I would like to take the car with me.
I need some advice on places that can fix the car if something should happen.
Is there any German corvette clubs?

Oh.. Please respond in english since I can't write but I can kind of read german. I was
able to create an account and post this message! Großes Grinsen

thanks
Robert

Hallo Bliewasp,
first of all: welcome to the Corvette Forum and to Germany.
Surely there are some adresses in Germany where you can take your Baby. Therefor we have to know to which area of Germany you are moving. Then some of the members can recommend you a garage. You´ll also get a lot of help in the forum, don't hesitate to ask your question.
There are some Corvette clubs in German, some of the larger are in Hessen, in Hamburg or in Bayern.
You will find a lot of Corvette drivers in Germany and yoù'll also have the opportunity to visit some events with your car.

I guess that would help... I'll be working in Mannheim... I have family in Hanau. How far of a drive is it from hanau to mannheim would you say?

What about USA head/tail lights, Cats, and safety items. Would I have to add or remove anything for the car to be legal to drive on german roads?

Hello Bluewasp,

welcome to the german Corvette-Forum! OK!

The distance between Hanau and Mannheim is about 100 kilometers or 62 Miles.
In Mannheim you will find a GM-Dealer and one smaller US-Car-Garage.

I think you have to change your headlight (convert to "Hella"-Glasses) to be legal.

What about the amber tail lights that the euro c4's have... will I have to change those out as well? It would be cheaper if I did it here before I sent the car over.

Sorry, i don`t really know. My 92 has the original US-taillights, but you might be right.

As far as I know, You can xxxx leave something, something orginial, and have problems down the road...

The first thing I'm going to buy is a german to English dictionary. Großes Grinsen
